Reading By Grade 3

Measurable Outcomes: 

By June 2025:

  • The percentage of students in the economically disadvantaged subgroup in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
  • 55% of students in the economically disadvantaged subgroup in Grades 4-6 will pass their corresponding Reading SOL.
  • By June 2025, the percentage of students in grades K-3 meeting or exceeding the VALLSS screener benchmarks will increase by 5 percentage points from fall 2024 to spring 2025.
  • 95% of students in Grade 4 will pass their corresponding Reading SOL or they will meet benchmark on the Passage Reading Fluency.
  • 83% of students in Grade 5 will pass their corresponding Reading SOL or they will meet benchmark on the Passage Reading Fluency.
  • 93% of students in Grade 6 will pass their corresponding Reading SOL or they will meet benchmark on the Passage Reading Fluency.

Strategies:

  • Improve integrity of implementation of new core curriculum, English Language Development program, and/or intervention programs by using FCPS-adopted resources with fidelity.
  • Use embedded formative assessments in the new core curriculum to guide tier 1 and tier 2 instructional decisions.

Elementary School Math

Measurable Outcomes:

By June 2025:

  • 50% of our economically disadvantaged students will pass their corresponding SOL.
  • 97% of students in Kindergarten will meet the Spring EMAS Benchmark.
  • 75% of Grade 1 students will be on or above grade level according to their Spring iReady.
  • 88% of Grade 2 students will be on or above grade level according to their Spring iReady.
  • 95% of Grade 3 students will be on or above grade level according to their Spring iReady or will pass their corresponding SOL.
  • 97% of Grade 4 students will be on or above grade level according to their Spring iReady or will pass their corresponding SOL.
  • 85% of Grade 5 students will be on or above grade level according to their Spring iReady or will pass their corresponding SOL.
  • 92% of Grade 6 students will be on or above grade level according to their Spring iReady or will pass their corresponding SOL.

Strategies:

  • Increase teachers' implementation of explicit instruction and other components of effective mathematics intervention.
  • Increase teachers' content knowledge and implementation of the 2023 FCPS mathematics program of studies.

Portrait of a Graduate (POG)

Measurable Outcome:

By June 2025, 100% of students will participate in a POG POL focused on the communicator attribute. Their rubric scores in criteria 1 and 2 will be recorded in RUBI.

Strategies:

  • Make explicit connections to POG skills and attributes (Resource 1) in daily lessons; if at an IB school, make explicit connections to ATL skills in daily lessons (Resource 2).
  • Engage students in reflection and planning (Resource 1) to share their growth in a presentation of learning.
